Hey all,
I was trying to create a record producer on an extended table of sc_request. I ran into this error:
"Record Producer on Request Management tables is not supported"
But, then it got created anyways and seems to be working just fine. I wanted to check is it not the best practice? Or the error itself is the error?

Hi
why do you need a record producer for request table?
Basically creating requests and requested items is the job of catalog items!
Kind regards
Maik

So is there a way to use a catalog item and link it to the table that extends the Request table?
I don't have to create RP. But, I want to use an extended table of Request and not the request itself.

Hi. Im still learning and my understanding was a record producer can be used for anything? I need users to be able to fill in a form to request something that needs approvals. I initially chose to use a record producer with a table extending task table, and associate it with a catalog item because then users dont get the usual order screen as if they are buying something. I need to use catalog item because it has some fields I need in the variables section that are not available in normal tables like Yes/No.
Also, isnt record producer just a special type of catalog item

Hello,
Record producer is for task based records and not for service based records like Request , Requested item etc, hence you try to extend table from Task then try to create record producer.
