Restarting a failed or stuck workflow on RITMs

We have found that when there are Over all performance issues (default semaphores exhausted due to some other reason) that some RITMs do not have their workflows launched or the workflows get stuck and do not proceed properly. The RITM is then in State = Open, Stage = Waiting for Approval, Approval = Not Yet Requested. This does not happen very often, but when it does happen, we have been using a simple work-around of adding a worknote to the RITM and the workflow then proceeds OK and add the approvers/approval groups OK. We had 8 of these on one day recently and 11 others on days ranging from December 2017 to May 2017.

Is there a better work-around?

Can we expect that a very small percentage of RITMs may not proceed properly and this should be monitored on a regular basis?

Have you gotten a fix for this?   I am testing Istanbul and have a complex onboarding workflow that I'm finding has this same issue that you are describing.   The approval step takes 2 minutes to complete after pressing the Approve button; in Helsinki it's seconds.   Then there are random catalog tasks and approvals that don't get generated.   My subflows are waiting for the state to change on the ritm to work in process, which it has but then it just stops.   I have support looking at this.

Not yet - we are still exploring the situations under which these RITMs get stuck. We are trying out the nudge button under the workflow context related link on the RITMs we may see that this occurs on (I advised my colleagues of this hint but no feedback yet.)


When you are inside the RITM below Show Workflow there is a Related Link which says Workflow Context. On that screen there is a 'Nudge' button. On one try we did not see any improvement of any kind. But that does not mean it does not work.



We just do not know all the reasons why workflows get stuck yet to be confident enough to state that yet is works in A or B or C scenario.



But your comment has got my brain spinning about other things as we just went from Helsinki to Istanbul too!
