I wanted to point out the two biggest mistakes in navigating around the ServiceNow Platform.

Unfortunately, these mistakes are common. And not only it is common, but they’re hard for beginner users to break.

So first, I’m going to point out what the mistakes are.

And then I’m going to tell you how to fix them.

Ready?

Let’s go!

  • Navigating without knowing the features of a ServiceNow UI16 view

  • and not understanding the capabilities of a ServiceNow List

The reason these 2 mistakes are so catastrophic is because neither has the end users best interests in mind. I have seen end users paying for high cost of services where an out of the box feature is a simple click of three steps.

You need to know how to configure the list view. You also need to understand the capabilities of a filter view.

These two features alone are so powerful. They remove the need for ACL (access control list) and relying on ACLs results in a performance impact as you add more rules.

If you wan to know more, here is how: How to navigate and configure the ServiceNow List

thanks, @Prasanna_Patil for sharing your insights. The primary purpose is to educate all ServiceNow administrators. You may have succeeded or not in the CSA exams.

In todays trend, I can still see these bad practices being done even with multiple years of experience as an implementor.

As a ServiceNow instructor and a practicioner, passing the CSA will not be enough. Continous learning and having a greener pasture of doing things in a proper way will only be achieved while working with an expert.
