Why would a table have a Work Notes field if the work notes are stored in the Journal Entries table?
- Are work notes duplicated?
- Or is the Work Notes field an abstraction that works like a view into the table where they are actually stored and which also allows you to add new notes to the actual table without having to directly reference it?
Thanks!

Hi @jlonsberry ,
Database normalization says that instead of storing everything in same table store cerate different table and store the piece of information which are getting change but rest of other details are same.
You are right with 2nd point, exactly the same what ServiceNow is doing, all activities will get stored in table "sys_journal_field table" along with table name and sys id.

Just to clarify, you are saying that all the notes are stored on the Journal Entries and that the Work Notes field is not a database field but an abstraction that ServiceNow has created in order to make it easier to CRUD associated records from the Journal Entries table? Thanks.
