Hello @rajchowhan ,
First of all, for the ServiceNow CSA exam, there are two recommended prerequisite courses. These courses help you understand all the core ServiceNow concepts, configurations, and skills required to clear the CSA.
They also provide essential hands-on knowledge that every ServiceNow Administrator should have.
Start reading Servicenow CSA E-book , you will get your e-book from fundamental course .
Most of the time, people get bored reading such a big eBook. However, it is very helpful for the exam. If you have already gone through the concepts in the eBook, and the same topics appear in the exam, you can quickly recognize that those questions are from specific sections.
So, don’t ignore the eBook—try to complete it.
The most important parts of the eBook are the last sections, such as Security Center, Shared Responsibility Model, and ServiceNow Encryption. These sections are often overlooked, but based on personal experience, around 4–5 questions can come from them.
Also, most of the theory and concepts in the eBook are already covered in ServiceNow prerequisite courses, so it becomes easier to revise quickly.
CSA exam blueprint you can refer from here :
Practice all the concepts on your PDI, and once you're comfortable, try a few mock tests. After that, you will get to know how they go.
If this helps you then mark it as helpful and accept as solution.
Regards,
Aditya

Hello @rajchowhan ,
Welcome to servicenow community
You can start with practicing in Servicenow PDI .
When you start exploring ServiceNow PDI, begin with understanding the basic platform UI:
Application Navigator, Banner, Content Frame (UI16)
Explore Forms and List Views
Company Branding and changing the Welcome Page
Context Menu (what it is and its types)
Breadcrumbs and how they work
Next, move on to data modeling basics:
Table and Field creation
Table dependencies and Table Extensions
Field types
Views
Important OOTB tables like User (sys_user), Group (sys_user_group), Role (sys_user_role), Delegations
Once you are comfortable with this, explore core configuration concepts:
Reference Qualifiers
Dot-walking
UI Policies
Dictionary Overrides
ACLs
Priority Lookup
Difference between Configuration vs Customization
Then understand data movement and backup concepts:
Update Sets (how to take backup of your work)
Update Set transfer methods
Import Sets
After learning these basics, you can confidently move forward to explore Service Management modules like:
Incident
Problem
Change
Request
And then deep dive into the Development part.
Then start with Certified System Administrator (CSA) – First & Mandatory
CSA is the basic and most important certification for ServiceNow beginners
It helps you understand how the ServiceNow platform works
Main topics to focus on:
Platform UI and navigation
Tables, fields, forms, and list views
Users, groups, and roles
Basic ITSM concepts
UI Policies, Client Scripts, and Business Rules (basic understanding)
Best practices:
Practice each topic in your Personal Developer Instance (PDI)
Do not just memorize answers—try to understand why a feature is used and when to use it
Once you follow this path, your ServiceNow learning journey will be smooth and structured
Try to spend 2-3 hours daily on community which will help you understand different real time scenarios ,different approaches . Explore University Course which also enhance your knowledge.
Start with the "Welcome to ServiceNow " training, it's really good and it will gives you your first certificate!
The Certified System Administrator (CSA) certificate is initial stage , it's useful for almost for any servicenow role .

Hi @rajchowhan
Greetings!!
Being a ServiceNow trainer, I'm happy to guide you here.
First of all, congratulations and welcome to the ServiceNow ecosystem! I wish you all the very best for your CSA journey.
As suggested by my friend in the thread, you can follow the CSA course. However, one important thing to remember is that ServiceNow is continuously growing—it's becoming broader and deeper with every release. Simply reading an eBook or completing a training course is not enough. You should invest time in learning the platform in greater depth by exploring documentation, hands-on practice, and real-world scenarios.
Also, certifications are just one part of the journey. Learning and gaining practical knowledge are far more important. That said, here are a few tips for preparing for the CSA certification.
Regarding your second question about guidance on other ServiceNow products: once you complete your CSA, you'll have a better understanding of the platform and can decide which path interests you the most. If your goal is to become a ServiceNow Developer, my recommendation is:
-
Complete CSA
-
Then pursue CAD (Certified Application Developer) training and certification.
I've also shared another thread with additional learning resources that you can explore afterward.
Products like ITSM, GRC, and HRSD are excellent career paths, but they require a deeper understanding of the platform and business processes. ServiceNow provides many free learning courses through Now Learning, and I highly recommend exploring them yourself. Spending time on the platform and navigating through the learning paths will help you build a much stronger foundation.
One more recommendation: after completing your CSA, start preparing for the ServiceNow Data Foundations exam. It covers core platform concepts and is expected to become a prerequisite for several future certifications. Don't rush into it now—focus on CSA first. Once you've successfully completed your CSA, you can begin preparing for Data Foundations, and we'll be happy to guide you further.
Best of luck with your ServiceNow journey! 🚀

Hi @rajchowhan
Tips for the CSA Exam (Certified System Administrator)
CSA is the first and foundational exam in your ServiceNow journey. Here are some tips to help you prepare effectively:
-
Study the training material thoroughly – Go through it line by line, word by word, at least 2–3 times.
-
Practice the labs multiple times – Do each lab 3–4 times. Don’t just complete them; carefully read and understand the instructions as well.
-
Follow the official eBook – Review it thoroughly at least 2–3 times to reinforce your understanding.
-
Consider supplementary courses – Some candidates have found Udemy courses helpful for additional practice and clarity. If you're preparing for CSA or CAD, try it: https://snowprep.net/
-
Watch my experience video – I’ve shared my own preparation journey and tips here:
