Hello Team,
I would appreciate assistance in updating my Personal Developer Instance (PDI) for my self-study and labs in Now Learning. When I initially requested my PDI, I mistakenly selected “I Need Guided Experience” instead of “I Need a Developer-Oriented IDE.” This has limited my access to some content.
Currently, I am unable to access HR Case Management/Lab Management to view or edit records needed for the labs. Could you please help grant me the appropriate access or update my PDI so I can continue with my studies?
Thank you for your support.
Patience.

If you are doing self-study, you can book the course from ServiceNow University and request a lab instance to practice lab modules
Once instance is provisioned, you can access the instance and practice the lab modules. For lab instances, all the required plugins & sample data would be pre-configured and you do not need to perform additional activities to carry out the lab tasks
Sometimes you might be interested to practice lab modules in PDI for self-learning or to retain the configuration since lab instances are released after few weeks. For example, Application Development Fundamentals course, I wanted to have loaner application in my PDI, hence I created all the lab steps from scratch in my PDI for reference purposes.
For this scenario, you need to identify the plugins needed for the course modules and any sample data, so that you can carry out the lab steps. If this is what you are looking for, install required plugins for HR Case Management [com.sn_hr_core] and replicate the lab modules in PDI
Please note if you run into any issues when carrying out lab modules in PDI, you would need sound knowledge as the error could be due to missing related plugins or pre-requisites not setup correctly. If you are not in that stage yet, recommend to use lab instances provided by ServiceNow.
I hope you appreciate the efforts to provide you with detailed information. If my response helped to guide you or answer your query, please mark it helpful & accept the solution.
Thanks,
Bhuvan

Hi @patoboadi28
This shouldn't be an issue because lab work related to SN University (Now Learning) courses should be undertaken on a specially-configured learning instance that's assigned to you once you enrol in the course. Lab work shouldn't be done on your PDI.
If you still have a problem with your PDI, can you please provide some more details so we can assist.

Hi @patoboadi28 ,
I guess you are mixing 2 things here - Your PDI and the Lab insatnces given in any SN university course. The Lab instance given in any Course are different and may have different data and configurations. You are expected to complete the given tasks in Lab on theat instance, not on PDI. PDI may not be having those data and configurations.
Your PDI may not be having all plugins related to HRSD and this may be the reason that you are not able to access HR Case mgmt on PDI. Please let me know in case still you have any confusion.
Regards,
Nikhil Bajaj

Lab work should be done on the course-provided lab instances, not your PDI. ServiceNow University courses give you access to specially configured lab instances with the required data -
For HR Case Management labs:
- Use the lab instance provided in your Now Learning course
- Your PDI likely lacks HRSD plugins and lab-specific configurations
- Access the lab environment through your course materials
The key distinction: PDI = your personal development environment, Lab instances = course-specific environments with pre-configured data and settings.
