Hi @VineeshP
I would recommend going to Now Create, where you will find the Process Guide and workshop decks. If you follow those, you’ll be in a good position to clear your doubts.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.

Hello @VineeshP,
You can think of the SPM hierarchy as follows:
Level | Description | Typical Table | Key Relationships |
Idea | Captures early concepts or improvement suggestions from users. | idea | Can be converted into a Demand. |
Demand | Represents a business request that needs evaluation (business case, cost, benefit, risk). | dmn_demand | Can originate from an Idea and lead to a Project or Enhancement. |
Project | Approved initiatives under execution, planned with tasks, timelines, and costs. | pm_project | Usually linked to the originating Demand, or can be created independently and associated with a Portfolio or Program. |
Portfolio / Program | Groups of related projects or demands for strategic visibility. | pm_portfolio/pm_program | Parent level for multiple Projects or Demands. |
Resource Management | Tracks resource plans, allocations, and capacity. | resource_plan, resource_allocation | Linked primarily to Demands and Projects. |
For Demands, focus mainly on fields like Portfolio, Category, Business Case , Risk Rating, and Resource Plans. For Projects, key fields include Portfolio, Demand (if converted), Dates, Cost/Benefit Plans, Time cards and Resource Plans.
To link a demand to a portfolio, just set the Portfolio field in Details tab on the Demand form.
You can find more details here PPM - Demand Process Guide, Project Portfolio Management - Process Guide
