From Access Control, to Zing To AI Search Configuration, there are currently 2116 types of metadata in ServiceNow‽‽ It's awesome that ServiceNow Studio lets you open ANY metadata file, but it can be super overwhelming to know where to start looking. Thankfully the team behind ServiceNow Studio have come up with a smart way to categorise the categories.

Show parent categories sorts metadata types into a more logical grouping. This makes it super easy to explore your application's files and more quickly find what you are looking for. For those more used to the UI experience of App Engine Studio, this view will feel familiar to the AES groups: Data - Experience - Logic and automation - Security.

Let us know in the comments if you have any other suggestions for a parent category and what files it should contain.

Reply below if you think Form should stay in the Data category or be moved to User Interface. Let me know if you have any other controversial categorisation opinions 🙂

My humble opinion:

In App Engine Studio, Forms are in Experience, and I didn't hear any pushback on this categorisation

Other one:

List is in UI in ServiceNow Studio vs. Data in App Engine Studio
