Hi @FeliciaNaaki ,
First thing get a PDI from developer.servicenow.com and start practicing on it. Go for Admin concepts - welcome to servicenow course, Welcome to Servicenow Micro certification, Servicenow Admin fundamentals. Complete your CSA. Then start with Javascript and have a strong background using-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nK1aPdGyGak
Once javascript is done, go for Scripting using developer.servicenow.com
and Scripting in ServiceNow Fundamentals on servicenow University
Then jump for your CAD certification and start hunting for your job. -

Hi @FeliciaNaaki and welcome 🫡,
Here are two great places to start:
- Get Started with ServiceNow University
- Learn about ServiceNow and earn badges, points, certificates, and improve your rank.
- Most courses are free, only a few are paid.
- Start with the "Welcome to ServiceNow " training, it's fun and gives you your first certificate!
- The most important first certificate is Certified System Administrator (CSA), useful for almost any ServiceNow role.
- Trainings at the SN University provide temporary lab instances with pre-installed plugins and apps.
- System Admin
- App Developer
- Platform Owner
- Implementer
- Technical Project Manager
- Business Process Analyst
- Support Specialist
- App Specialist
- Architect
- Developer
- Implementer
- Pre-sales Expert
- Sales Expert
- System Admin
To learn more about trainings:
[ServiceNow University] - Vouchers eligibility, Free Trainings, Paid Exams and Payments | FAQs
- Request your Personal Developer Instance (PDI) — your own ServiceNow sandbox to practice safely.
- You can try almost everything for free (except a few advanced features like AI).
- Explore guides, tutorials, blogs, and documentation to learn more.
Learning Plan ServiceNow Administrator:
- Learn admin skills to move into app development.
- Includes 13 short, self-paced modules.
TL;DR
ServiceNow University = Learn and earn badges or certifications.
Developer Portal = Practice and explore the platform hands-on.

Good luck! 🤞💪

Go through ServiceNow fundamentals on-demand course and get certified in ServiceNow CSA.
You can go through scripting and development concepts as it would help you with any ServiceNow modules that you would be working in future,
https://developer.servicenow.com/dev.do#!/learn/learning-plans/zurich
Make use of your PDI to full extent to practice what you learn as hands-on would be the most essential part of your learning phase
Register with ServiceNow University and go through course contents.
https://learning.servicenow.com/
Developer learning plans are easier to understand the modules compared to official documentation and would recommend to start learning in phases, start with New to ServiceNow and later ServiceNow Administration followed by ServiceNow Application Developer,
https://developer.servicenow.com/
Go through ITSM and Application Development Fundamentals on-demand courses and get certified in CIS-ITSM and CAD.
If you need any help, you can post in communities and experts can guide you. There are lots of YouTube videos available depending on your topic of interest and thousands of useful blogs available in ServiceNow communities. You can search in communities and YouTube and follow what suits your learning style the best.
Congratulations on your ServiceNow journey !
If this helped to answer your query, please mark it helpful & accept the solution. As per community guidelines, you can accept more than one answer as accepted solution.

Hi @FeliciaNaaki
The best way to begin is by enrolling in ServiceNow University courses, which provide structured learning paths for all skill levels.
As a first step, you should set up your Personal Developer Instance (PDI) to get hands-on experience. You can request a PDI through the official ServiceNow Developer Site: Home | ServiceNow Developers
Guide: Guides | ServiceNow Developers To understand more about "PDI"
Go through following:
1. ServiceNow University: ServiceNow University | ServiceNow"
2. Product Documentation: Product Documentation | ServiceNow
3. YouTube channels: https://youtu.be/PmA7Iter2uU?si=3R8zVr6lWyCeZe3p
4. ServiceNow Community: https://www.servicenow.com/community/
Once you’ve gained foundational knowledge and hands-on experience with a PDI, you can pursue the CSA (Certified System Administrator) certification. It validates your understanding of the platform's core functionalities and administration
Beyond CSA, ServiceNow offers multiple certification tracks (like CAD, CIS-ITSM, CSM, HRSD, and more) to deepen your expertise based on your role and career goals.
If my response solves your query, please marked helpful by selecting Accept as Solution and Helpful. Let me know if anything else is required.
Thanks,
Prerna
