How can I add a Product Offering with Product Specification to a bundled Product Offer?

Hi Community,

I wanted to create a bundle product offer (e.g. Closed Rack Bundle), which includes a product offer 'Power and Cooling'. I have created the Power and Cooling product offer with the Product specification filled which is with the Service Type.

When creating the product offering relationship to add the 'Power and Cooling' product offering as a component of the bundle, I can't find this item when looking up the Target product offering but if I remove the product specification, then I can add it as a component.

However, when I was doing the lab, there was a product offer 'Home Automation Bundle' which has the Door Sensor as a component of the bundle. The 'Door Sensor' also has Product specification filled. But this product specification doesn't add any characteristics automatically to the Product Offering Characteristics related list.

My questions are:

1. Why can't I add link the 'Power and Cooling' product as a component of the Closed Rack Bundle? How can I achieve it?

2. Why sometimes the offer with product specification will automatically add in the product offering characteristics while sometimes won't?

3. When should I use Service Specification? Can the product offerings only make up with product specifications and resource specifications? My prospect's current product catalog is organized in a way that every spec combination would have a separate product offering. However, the SOM recommends using characteristics so they may want to have the basic information to gradually to update their offering details.

Thank you!

Hi @Rose L

Answer 1:

It appears that the Unit of Measure has already been set. The Unit of Measure should be the same for both the Source and Target Product Offering. It seems that the "Power and Cooling" Product Offering does not have the "each" value in the Unit of Measure.

Answer 2:

I am facing the same issue. I am not entirely sure, but it seems that creating a new Product Offering after the target Product Specification already has a Characteristic resolves the problem. If the Product Offering is created before setting the Characteristic to the Product Specification, it does not reflect in the Product Offering.

Answer 3:

Product Offerings are only created using Product Specifications. It is not necessary to utilize Service and Resource Specifications. The decision depends on your business model.

For instance, if you want to reuse a Service Specification for another Product Specification and Product Offering to reduce Time to Market, you should use the Service Specification.

Regards,

@Kenta Koizumi  did you find the answer 2?

Not yet but simple way is creating PS firstly before creating Product Offering.
