How do I fill the demand field in an IDEA with the DEMAND NUMBER instead of the name?

When a Demand is created out of an idea in the Idea table, the field Demand is filled with a business rule.

However, this reference field is filled with the name of the Demand. And not the number. The latter is the case for all other reference fields.

Could you explain how we can change the name of the reference Demand into the number of the referenced Demand?

So we can work in a uniform way in our platform.

We have tried several ways to change this reference field to a number, however without success so far.

Thanks for your help!

Reference fields show the value of the display column for the referenced table.   So if you look at the dictionary for the Demand table go to the short description field, there you will find a dictionary override that has "Override display value" selected.   Turn it off and you will get what you want.   I would go with Emily McMullin's thought and wonder about the need for this change.   Most of the PM's and users I work with know the short description they gave something not the number it was assigned.

There is another field demand(Composite Field) which will have both Demand name and number

I understand the desire for consistency, but this form is meant for an End user, not a typical power user of the system. It was designed this way to be more user friendly for that persona.   You can hover over the information button by the demand name to get the number if that info is needed. Beyond "consistency", what is the

need to make this change?

There is no need beyond consistency 🙂
