Hello Everyone,
I have a question on expense line.
When we create expense line from demand, the cost plan field on expense line doesn't show cost plan associated with that demand. I know there is some reference qualifier on the cost plan field.
But isn't this is how it should behave OOB to auto populate the cost plan which is tagged to that demand?

Hi @Nivedita9 ,
Thanks for raising the point with community.
Before I answer specifically to this question, let's understand the objective of creating demands.
In ServiceNow, demand management centralizes the requests raised across the organization.
It helps in capturing, centralizing, and assessing strategic and operational requests and assist in streamlining the investment process for strategical as well as operational initiatives such as new products, services, and enhancements.
Let's alsounderstand the idea behind creating the cost plan, resource plan, benefit plans, tasks, risks, issues in a demand.Out of all the above entities except demand tasks, all others are created to assist in creation of business case and get an assessment what is required in terms of finance, resources \ teams etc. for future project when demand gets approved. So, all these items are forecast done for the future project in the demand phase.
On the other hand, the expense lines generated by the timesheets posted for the demand are specific to the work done for this particular demand.
Since the cost plans that are added in demand is to provide the cost forecast for the upcoming project, that is why, the cost plan is not associated with the expense line.
Hope this answers the query. if it does, please mark the response as correct answer.
Happy SPM Journey !
Thank You!
