Hello, I am looking to understand how resource availability is calulated in the system. I have resources that are over capacity but it still show availability.
When I look at availability across weeks, I notice that the availability only shows in the split weeks.
Does anyone know why or how to adjust the formula for availability?

Availability: Total time that the resources are available after both hard and soft allocations. Availability is capacity minus allocation.
You can see the doc here Resource Management reports
When you have resource which is over-capacity but still shown as available, it typically means that you have over-allocated the resource in one of the days.
As an example, consider two days July-3rd and July-4th, if you allocated 12 hours on July-3rd and 0 hours on July-4th, you availability for two days July 3 and 4 would still be 8 hours and not 4 hours, because on July 4th you still have 8 hours free to take up work.
Hope this clarifies.

Well if you are in Helsinki then you can add calendar entries in time off and the resource manager while doing resource planning from workbench will see the available hours minus the no of hours added in your calendar entry. However he can always overallocate a resource.. Also you cannot restrict the requested hours as its been evenly distributed across all the days when a manager creates a resource plan for u/your group..
Howevere if in Istanbul you do have the option for allocation spread of you one even or not based on that it picks up the maximum available hours in a week followed by next day. And in case there is a unavilability for few days in that week it will skip those days and move to the next..
Hope this answers your question!
