Status Reporting on Sub Projects in PPM

We are using project/sub project in PPM and realize that on the sub project you lose the ability to create status reports from the planning console on the sub project which allows functionality to copy previous status reports and also print/export to ppt. How are people using the sub project functionality and status reports as we are receiving questions from our PM community

I know that this suggestion might become an OCM issue but I like to say that if you have project that has subprojects, you might actually have a program with multiple projects. In using that approach you maintain the functionality that you are looking for.
