Strategic Planning Workspace Integrations with Demands and Projects

I have set up the integrations between SPW and Demand / Project using the link provided to generate the map. However, the mappings are not working for Programs to Strategic Programs. Also Epics is not choice when setting the lens filter.

I cannot figure out what is wrong. Should work because I am using all out of the box fields and the mapping.

Help please!

Hi,

We have run into the same thing and unfortunately have not been able to find a solution.  Inquired with ServiceNow through our reps but on this particular question, there wasn't a great answer.

Tried new table mappings and adding to / modifying the default table mappings but no luck.  Best we can come up with is that 'Programs' are meant to be different than 'Strategic Programs'.  Programs referring to a collection of projects [executable item(s)] and Strategic Programs referring to higher level projects/demands [planning item(s)] that relate to a broader initiative.

Please post again if you find a way to get the tables mapped!

Hi Tiffany,

Can I understand why you are connecting programs to strategic programs?

Have you selected Epic here to be available for your lens?

If Epics are not available in the Available Planning Items slushbucket (in the lens record), have you checked the System Property sn_align_core.planning_item_types_allow_list to see if Epics are listed as an available planning item type?

Hi, we arrived at a similar conclusion.

Agree - Programs are meant to be different than Strategic Programs.  Programs are for management and categorization of related demand and projects to be executed (SPM PPM records) and Strategic Programs referring to planning items at the organization's strategic initiative level (SPM SPW records).  So we are using the strategic programs in the SPW and the programs on the execution side to categorize in project team flight work.

An additional notable in our exploration was that our developer could not find a link between the SPW Strategic Programs (PLNI) and SPM Programs (PGM) as they are in two separate tables. However, SPM Programs (PGM) can be created from the SPM or SPW sides and are the same table and ootb there is no way to distinguish in the Program table where a particular program initiated.
