A red dotted-line, is displayed in the planning console gantt view. I assume it may be the program planned start date (this project is associated to a program and portfolio)? But why is it red and dotted? Red is never a favorite color in a project plan or schedule

Red is never a favorite color in a project plan or schedule
In MS Project, red tasks denote the Critical Path... which are actually the favoured tasks.

On Helsinksi, Chrome. But have observed in Safari. I am aware of the critical path feature and its red-markings in the planning console gantt view; that is not what I am referring to. Here is screen shot of my red-line. Horizontal red-dotted line, appears in late Oct timeframe on gantt chart.

OK, I see the same green vertical stripe/line for the current date on my projects, but I looked at a bunch of different projects and couldn't find any projects with a red dotted line like that. And I don't see anything in the documentation describing what that red line is supposed to be representing...if I run into anything I will let you know, but you might want to consider submitting it to ServiceNow as a HI support ticket, since it appears to at minimum be a gap in the currently available PPM documentation.
