1 In 2015 I started my SN journey and that time SN was known as ticketing tool and was not wide but now it is more wider and deep too.
It need dedication and a regular schedule.
You cant be master of all modules, so better go step b step
practice is key here, so what you read, try in PDI.
Open to ask questions
Attend SN events , met like minded ppl.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.

Hi,
I started mid-2019 and I started with directly the preparation for Certified System Administrator (CSA) which is basically a must when starting with ServiceNow. It is paid, so if you want to start with something else, see my tips below, or if you are lucky enough, some partner companies have it at discounted or no price at all.
When starting with ServiceNow, the NowLearning is a great starting point:
https://nowlearning.servicenow.com/lxp/en/pages/servicenow
> there are many trainings, some are free, some not, some require dependencies... a good start would be "Welcome to ServiceNow":
- Welcome to ServiceNow (3 hours),
- this gives you some theory to understand, - Welcome to ServiceNow Simulator (30 min),
- this is to play with ServiceNow around (you will be given testing instance for free), - Micro-Certification - Welcome to ServiceNow
- this is to get your first certification and show your dedication,
- you have 4 attempts of 60 min and you can use internet to answer the questions,
- googling is also learning, so definitely do it!
Then you can continue with another NowLearning trainings, if you do not know where to start, the Career Journeys will help you. Overall it is good to start with IT Service Management (ITSM), as it is omnipresent, then you can select some specialisation - HR, security, operations, ...
Also, check the below link to have your own instance where you can do anything, not worrying that it would break anything (after some inactivity it will be wiped - great chance to learn how to backup):
https://developer.servicenow.com/dev.do
Last but not least, there are millions of videos on youtube, articles all around the internet (LinkedIn or this forum), or courses on Udemy.
Good luck with your ServiceNow career!
/* If my response wasn’t a total disaster ↙️ ⭐ drop a Kudos or Accept as Solution ✅ ↘️ Cheers! */

Hi,
I second the NowLearning and PDI suggested. On the developer site, there are also trainings you can go to, but ofc more geared towards developers.
Youtube is also very helpful, especially for the basic overview - make sure to pick some that are fairly recent, tho, as some things change throughout the releases and you probably don't want to go through years of release notes.
I'd say depending on whether you are working in an internal role or with multiple clients, pick your PDI to be at a realease that either matches your company's instance or the oldest one of your clients, unless their next upgrade is planned fairly soon - that's my biggest regret so far, I'm about 3 months into the journey.

Hello @ericqmanning
In addition to above replies you can try working on some beginner projects like:
- Parking Management
- School Admission
- Sports hall Booking
- Hotel Booking
- Vaccination Booking
- Luggage tracking
- Township Management
and many more, just look around you and you will find. These will help you to get hands on experience.
"If you found my answer helpful, please give it a like and mark it as the accepted solution. It helps others find the solution more easily and supports the community!"
Thank You
