I have experience in Manual Testing and IDAM Support, using ServiceNow as a ticketing tool. After a 3-year career gap, I’m looking to restart my career in ServiceNow. I’m currently learning AI Support Specialist course from servicenow university. Is my background suitable for a ServiceNow role, and what skills should I focus on and which role should I focus? Thank you.

Thank you so much for the detailed guidance and learning path. I’ll definitely follow these steps and focus on building my skills through hands-on practice in PDI.
Along with upskilling, I’m also looking to restart my career in ServiceNow. Do you think there are good job opportunities for someone with my background, and what roles would you recommend I target?

Hello @sireeshaspark ,
Yes, your background is suitable for restarting a career in ServiceNow, especially because you already have experience with Manual Testing, IDAM Support, and ServiceNow as a ticketing tool. Your previous experience can be positioned as relevant ServiceNow experience rather than starting completely from zero.
For your career restart, I would suggest focusing first on ServiceNow ITSM / ServiceNow Support or ServiceNow Tester roles. Since you have a testing background, ServiceNow QA/Tester could be the easiest transition, while ServiceNow Administrator would be a good longer-term option if you enjoy configuration and platform work.
You should focus on ServiceNow fundamentals such as tables, forms, lists, users, groups, roles, ACLs, notifications, UI Policies, Client Scripts, and Business Rules. Along with this, build a strong understanding of ITSM modules such as Incident, Problem, Change, Knowledge, and Service Catalog. For administration, learn user and role management, ACLs, update sets, data imports, and basic platform configuration. Since you already have a testing background, focus on test case creation, regression testing, troubleshooting, and ServiceNow ATF (Automated Test Framework). You should also learn basic JavaScript, GlideRecord, GlideAjax, and client-side/server-side scripting. Having knowledge of REST/SOAP APIs, integrations, and authentication will be particularly useful because of your IDAM background. Finally, continue with the ServiceNow University AI Support Specialist course and learn Now Assist/AI capabilities, but consider AI as an additional skill while keeping strong ServiceNow fundamentals as your primary focus.
If this helps you then mark it as helpful and accept as solution.
Regards,
Aditya
