Hello Everyone, very excited to be here. My question is, how long does it take to prepare for the CSA exam. Any good additional information and resources to prepare for the exam?

Hi @Niamath Azeez

If you've never developed or administered ServiceNow before, I would recommend about 2 months working with ServiceNow before going for your CSA exam.

Ideal experience for taking the Certified System Administrator (CSA) exam in ServiceNow can vary, but a solid foundation would typically include:

1. **Basic ServiceNow Knowledge:** Familiarity with fundamental concepts, such as tables, fields, forms, and lists.

2. **System Administration Skills:** Understanding user administration, roles, permissions, and system properties.

3. **Configuration and Customization:** Experience with configuring and customizing ServiceNow instances, including business rules, client scripts, and UI policies.

4. **Scripting and Automation:** Basic scripting knowledge using JavaScript within ServiceNow, including server-side and client-side scripting.

As for gaining experience, consider the following opportunities:

1. **Training Courses:** Attend ServiceNow training courses or online tutorials to get hands-on experience with the platform.

2. **Online Sandboxes:** Utilize ServiceNow's developer instances or personal developer instances to practice and experiment with configurations.

3. **Community Forums:** Engage in the ServiceNow community forums to learn from others, ask questions, and share knowledge.

4. **Volunteer Projects:** Seek volunteer opportunities within your organization or through community initiatives to work on real-world ServiceNow projects.

Remember, practical experience is key, and the more exposure you have to real-world scenarios, the better prepared you'll be for the CSA exam. Additionally, ServiceNow provides detailed exam blueprints that outline the topics covered, which can guide your preparation efforts.

Hi @Niamath Azeez ,

This is dependent on your previous experience but completing the CSA fundamentals course on Now Learning is an absolute must imo, whilst there are quite a few resources out there (of varying quality) that can help you prepare. I've not done the CSA exam for quite a few years so I might be slightly out of date,  but personally I completed the fundamentals course and then spent a few weeks going through the different resources that were online to make sure I knew the range of content and terminology that might be in the exam, and had a high rate of success in answering the pre questions on those resources (with a focus on terminology) whilst considering these elements whilst building/fixing/supporting the platform in the real world.

A word of warning though, some of those prep sites are out of date and/or have varying degrees of quality in question quality or relevance. Also, I'd strongly recommend paying attention to what @Uncle Rob says in this post: https://www.servicenow.com/community/training-and-certifications/tips-for-csa-exam/m-p/337949, he's right that the best prep you can do for the exam is build practical knowledge, experience and confidence. Knowing the terminology for the exam content/answers really helps build confidence and is key in getting a high score though.

Use a PDI to put the course content into practise so the knowledge really sinks in, whilst living/breathing the course for a few weeks. Might be worth taking a while to do this until you're confident before you commit to the exam as it can be expensive to repeat the exam.

Please bear in mind it's a subjective matter though... it depends on your previous experience with using the platform in real world situations.

Hope that helps....

HI @Niamath Azeez

It depends on your experience. I must say if yiu are very new to SN then, 6 months is minimum to get the knowledge and appear for exam.
