Certified Application Developer exam retirement ...

I apologize, this question requires a bit of contextual information to make sense.

I took the instructor-led Certified Application Developer course at Knowledge '23. I believe that they were teaching the course according to the Utah version. I recently took the exam but failed. I need to schedule a retake exam. I see that the delta exam for Vancouver expires on 2/13/24. Does that mean I won't be able to schedule a retake after that date?

I hope that my question makes sense. Thank you.

Hi @Michael Searle - I can't fault your logic 🙂

People who already have certifications need to pass delta exams once a year to show they are up-to-date with the latest features on the platform. You don't need to sit a delta exam until at least 12 months after you obtain a certification. So the CAD Vancouver delta deadline has no impact on you. Assuming you pass your CAD exam in the next couple of months, the first time you'll be asked to sit a delta will be the Xanadu deltas in 2025.

That's a long way of saying the delta exam timeframe is completely unrelated to you attaining your CAD certification, so don't concern yourself with it.

If you log into your Webassessors account you should see the option to book the CAD re-take exam. There is a time limit on that - I think it's 12 months after you received your exam voucher, but someone else may be able to confirm that, if it's not obvious in Webassessors.

Hi @Michael Searle - no, don't worry about the delta deadline, it doesn't affect you until after you've passed the exam.

Thank you, for answering Simon.

However, I did not pass the exam. I need to take and pass the retake exam. My question pertains to the availability of the retake exam after the delta deadline. Will the retake exam still be available for purchase and scheduling after the delta deadline of 2/13?

I want to postpone the retake to allow sufficient time to work through the labs from the class. Due to the shortened timeframe at Knowledge we packed three days of class/learning into two days. Unfortunately, I fell behind during the first day. I took the exam knowing most likely I wouldn't pass but I wanted to use the voucher before it expired. Doing that gave me a baseline to help me know where my knowledge/experience are deficient. That's just my logic. Hopefully some people think it makes sense.
