Several years ago I wrote a post about how prepare for certification exams that were not just better, but more efficient than cheating. But now. . . There’s AI. People using are trying to use AI to beat or cheat certification exams of all types - and they’re missing the point - asking for test questions to memorize, or practice isn’t differentiating you - it’s merely doing what everyone else is.
And they are doing it badly. If you haven’t seen examples of hallucinations - take a good long look at AI generated alphabet chart on my LinkedIn post.
So. Don’t try to make AI your Answer Machine. Instead, make it your mentor. Consider asking your favorite AI tool to be your:
- 🗓️Study Planner - Ask it to build a study plan based on background, timeline, and learning style
- 🌐Scenario Builder - Ask it to give you contextual examples, projects, and practice that you can apply as real experience
- 🫂Community and Resource Finder - Ask it to connect you to the right (human) study, working and practice groups.
These things are much more powerful than a “book of (questionably correct) test questions”. Want some examples? Take a look at some of the sample prompts in my reply, and tune them for yourself.
Or better yet?
Comment below with some of your suggestions (and improvements) on these for using AI to assess and build your skills.
