[Lab Validation Notes] Welcome to ServiceNow (Zurich): Knowledge Base Submission

This post shares learning notes from troubleshooting lab validation issues encountered while working through the Knowledge Management module in the Welcome to ServiceNow (Zurich) course. It focuses on common error messages you may encounter if the validation fails.

Note: Some labs assume you are continuing from previous modules and still impersonating Platform User, even if this is not explicitly stated in the task instructions.

This is another short task designed to provide hands-on experience of the concepts covered in the Knowledge Management Lesson content including:

  • Submitting a request via the Self-Service Portal

Below is the only error message I encountered when attempting to validate the task

  1. Can you verify that a request has been made to create a new Knowledge Base for new employees?
    This error is linked to steps 1-4 in the task instructions. Make sure you are accessing Employee Center and not Service Portal.

    You also need to ensure that you enter the exact text provided within the instructions otherwise the simulator will not find a match and validate the task.

    Tip: If you're not sure how to know the difference between the two, check the URL:

    your-lab-instance.service-now.com/esc -> Employee Center
    your-lab-instance.service-now.com/sp -> Service Portal.

These notes reflect my experience troubleshooting lab validation errors while working through this task and form part of a series documenting common lab validation issues encountered while completing the Welcome to ServiceNow (Zurich) course. As I continue building my skills as a Junior Developer, I hope these posts help other learners navigate similar challenges. If you've encountered additional pitfalls, feel free to comment and share them below.
