I'm new to the ServiceNow community, so I apologize if this isn't the right place to post. Let me briefly introduce myself: I’ve been working as a ServiceNow Developer (beginner level) at my company for the past five months, and I’m based in Malaysia. I hold an ITIL Foundation certification in ITSM, which I earned through the EXIN exam board. Now, I'm eager to pursue ServiceNow certification, especially since I'm already working on the platform.
I have a few questions:
What is the difference between "Training" and "Certification"? Does completing a ServiceNow training course come with a certificate?
For the "Certified System Administrator" certification:
i) Is the certification course class-based?
ii) Is it possible to request on-site, in-person training? (This is my preference.)
iii) Could you share the locations where this certification training is available?
iv) What is the cost of this certification?
v) When is the next training session for the "Certified System Administrator" certification?I’ve emailed multiple times without receiving a response. Is there a direct contact number for ServiceNow? I’ve been unable to reach anyone through the numbers provided on the website.
Thanks in advance for your help! Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi @bahdol5098
-
What is the difference between "Training" and "Certification"? Does completing a ServiceNow training course come with a certificate?
Atul:Yes, all mainline training programs come with certification. Additionally, there are a few micro-certifications for smaller topics, while some trainings are just learning-based without associated certifications.
-
For the "Certified System Administrator" certification:
i) Is the certification course class-based? --> Atul :Both options are available: you can choose class-based training or on-demand training. Class-based training is chargeable, while on-demand training is currently free.
ii) Is it possible to request on-site, in-person training? (This is my preference.) --> Yes, there are classes dedicated in few cities you can check with now learning team -

-
iii) Could you share the locations where this certification training is available? --> You can check on webassessor portal -
https://webassessor.com/SERVICE_NOW
iv) What is the cost of this certification? -- CSA cost $300 plus taxes.
v) When is the next training session for the "Certified System Administrator" certification? --> You can check above links. -
I’ve emailed multiple times without receiving a response. Is there a direct contact number for ServiceNow? I’ve been unable to reach anyone through the numbers provided on the website.
You can log a case via Now Learning -- Help Centre.

Hi @bahdol5098 and welcome to the ServiceNow Community!
Thanks for the detailed introduction — it’s great to see your enthusiasm and the steps you’ve already taken in your ServiceNow journey. I’ll try to address each of your questions below:
1. Training vs. Certification:
Training refers to courses designed to help you build your skills on the platform. These are offered either as instructor-led sessions (virtual or in-person) or self-paced modules on Now Learning.
Certification means you’ve passed an official exam to validate your knowledge. Completing training is helpful preparation but doesn’t automatically give you a certification — the exam is a separate step.
2. Certified System Administrator (CSA):
i) The CSA course is available in both self-paced and instructor-led formats. Choose what best fits your learning style and schedule.
ii) On-site, in-person training is less common these days, but it may be arranged through an Authorized Training Partner or your employer’s training vendor.
iii) For in-person sessions, availability depends on your region. In Malaysia, it’s best to connect with local ServiceNow training partners to check options.
iv) Pricing can vary:
Instructor-led training is typically around USD 2,500.
The CSA exam voucher costs about USD 300 if purchased separately.
v) Upcoming CSA training sessions are listed on Now Learning. You’ll need to register for a free account to browse available courses and dates.
Also, if you’re just getting started and want to build a strong foundation, I highly recommend watching my YouTube channel: TechTalk with Bill
I’ve created beginner-friendly videos that walk you through the basics of ServiceNow, certifications, and best practices. It’s a great first step in learning and growing your career in ServiceNow — especially if you’re aiming for the CSA certification.
Feel free to reach out if you have more questions. You're definitely on the right path, and the community is here to support you!
Best of luck and happy learning! 🙌
