Hey ServiceNow Community!
I'm very happy to share that I recently passed theServiceNow CSA Certificationexam on my first attempt and answered 59 out of the 60 questions correctly. (Self-deprecating thought: "Okay, which one did I miss?!") But in all seriousness, that single missed question doesn’t matter. What matters is that the rigorous preparation truly paid off.

My Core Preparation :
My preparation was built on solid, accessible pillars. If you follow this path with discipline, a near-perfect score is absolutely within your reach.
1. The Foundation: ServiceNow Administration Fundamentals On-Demand Course
- I didn’t just "click complete." I watched every video, did every lab, and listened intently to the "why" behind the concepts, not just the "how." The structure of the exam maps directly to the structure of this course. Master the material here, and you’re already 80% of the way there.
2. The Ebook :
- I read this entire document yes, all of it. I used a highlighter on every key term, list, and critical distinction. Many of the most tricky, specific questions in the exam are pulled directly from "Note" boxes or lists within this ebook.
3. Prioritize Hands-On Experience :
- While theory builds the foundation, practical application cements understanding. Engaging directly with ServiceNow in a real-world environment allows concepts such as Dictionary Overrides or Access Control Lists (ACLs) to move from abstract ideas to intuitive knowledge. The more you practice, the more confident you’ll feel.
4. Focus on Blueprint :
- Use the official docs for reference, and if you have any doubts, the ServiceNow Community is a great place to ask questions and discuss topics with others. The ServiceNow exam is not a "brain dump" exam. The questions are constantly changing and updated. The scenarios on the real test will require actual understanding, not just recognition. Use dumps only to understand the style of the questions and to identify areas where your knowledge is weak, but never rely on them.
Bonus Tip :Leverage Jonathan Hullah’s Study Notes
- Print the notes, highlight key sections, and use them as a companion while revisiting the official documentation. Where gaps exist, add your own annotations and definitions to strengthen recall. This structured approach ensures you’re never caught off guard during the exam.

Final checklist for your CSA journey:
- Focus on the Exam Blueprint: Go to the official CSA exam specification page. Print the "Scope" section. It gives you the exact percentage weight of each domain (User Interface, Data, Reporting, Scripting, etc.)
- Embrace Mnemonics: System Properties (sys_properties.list), Business Rules (sys_script.list), Client Scripts (sys_script_client.list). I learned the list names (table_name.list) and table structures. This knowledge is often tested directly.
- Know Your 'Whys': Don't just know what a Client Script is. Know why you would use an onChange Client Script instead of an onSubmit one. Understanding the use case is critical for the scenario-based questions.
- Visualize the Flow: For the scripting section, mentally visualize where a Client Script runs (Browser) vs. where a Business Rule runs (Server). This concept eliminates multiple incorrect answers immediately.
- Read CAREFULLY: On exam day, multiple-select questions were common. If it asks you to "Select 3," make sure you selected exactly 3. Slow down. The questions often use precise language.
Conclusion :
The ServiceNow CSA exam is achievable. It’s fair, comprehensive, and it rewards genuine effort. It’s not about finding shortcuts; it's about putting in the time with the right materials. CSA is a measure of the effective preparation outlined above. If you dedicate yourself to the SNAF course, the ebook, and most importantly to consistent, hands-on practice in a PDI, you will not only pass, you will excel.
