What is plugin maintenance mode?

Hi.

I refer to the plugin changes in the official docs to get knowledge to upgrade from SanDiego to Tokyo.

However, there are places where I am not sure what the state is due to the changes in the plug-in

It's in maintenance mode.

What should be done if an activated plugin goes into maintenance mode (can it remain activated or should it be deactivated?)

Maintenance mode is only available to ServiceNow employees. If you require something done with maint access please contact customer support.

In other words, plugins in maintenance mode cannot be used (does that mean that they are automatically deactivated)?
