Has anyone developed a customer notification process for change management change requests

I would like to use the Servicenow Change Management module to notify our customers when maintenance work is being done that could affect their services. Following the Change Management and Change Request processes works to define, approve, and schedule the work, but I cannot find any search in Servicenow or on the internet that identifies the ability to notify anyone in advance of the maintenance work.
I would love to hear about any development work to integrate this functionality.

You could look at the BR "Affected ci notifications" as a starting point. You'll need to decide on whether you notify people based on directly impacted CIs/Services or relationships. You then have various "subscribed" related lists such as user, company, business location to consider. Lastly, you need to decide whether this is something users are opting into or not.
