How to automatically post a comment in the request activity when a user requests approval

Hello!

I am currently working on approvals for forms and I am trying to make it so that when a user request approval for a form, there is an automatic message that gets displayed in the request activity letting them know what step they are on.

I am not sure if I need to use a business rule as I do not want this to affect all forms as some do not require approval. I thought I would look at the workflow but not sure how to do so.

Here in this example, rather then me manually posting the comment  " Awaiting approval from listed supervisor" I would like it to be automatic when someone does submit a request.

I would also like to be able to make it so that when the approval state has been approved it can update the user to let them know via the same method.

I am still learning the ropes of service now so any help is appreciated!

Hi @Bsnguyen ,

As you have mentioned, you can try updating the comments/work notes using Business rule based on the update (example: when approval changed to requested) for the specific catalog items (request forms).

Same can be configured in Flow designer, based on the update of record with approval changed to requested and for the specific catalog items (request forms).

Hope this helps.

@Bsnguyen

Why would user request an approval?

You must have configured some approvals for your catalog item and must be using Flow or Workflow to send approval.

there only you can add logic to update the comments
