In the ever-evolving landscape of Robotic Process Automation (RPA), resource optimization remains a top priority for organizations aiming to scale their automation efforts. High Density Robots (HDR) provide an innovative solution to achieve this goal by enabling multiple bot processes to run simultaneously on a single machine. This setup ensures optimal resource utilization and cost efficiency without compromising performance.

What Are High Density Robots?

High Density Robots (HDR) allow you to execute multiple automations (bot processes) independently on a single virtual machine. To achieve this, the machine must support multiple user sessions at the same time. Each robot operates within its isolated session, ensuring there is no overlap or interference between bot processes.

By leveraging HDR, organizations can maximize the machine’s capacity to execute several bot processes in parallel, significantly enhancing throughput and reducing the need for additional infrastructure.

Key Benefits of High Density Robots:

  1. Run Multiple Automations Concurrently: HDR enables multiple bot processes to run independently on the same machine, allowing organizations to scale their automation efforts.
  2. Lower Infrastructure Costs: By reducing the number of machines required, HDR helps organizations minimize their infrastructure investment while maximizing efficiency.
  3. Session Isolation: Each robot operates within an isolated session, preventing overlap or interference between processes. This ensures consistent and reliable automation outcomes.
  4. Enhanced Parallel Execution: HDR supports connecting multiple robots to the same machine, allowing for seamless parallel execution of automations.

HDR Configuration and Guidelines:

Machine Requirements

  • The machine must support multiple user sessions simultaneously to enable HDR functionality.
  • Machines associated with HDR cannot be converted to non-HDR setups if multiple robots with the same machine name are marked as high density.

Mapping Robots

  • Multiple high density robots can be mapped to a single virtual machine for parallel execution.

Screen Resolution Configuration

  • High-density robots can operate with different resolutions for each robot on the same machine without any issues if they are running different processes. However, if all robots on the same machine are executing the same process and utilizing Computer Vision actions, they must maintain the same resolution; otherwise, the automation may fail.
  • The default screen resolution can be configured using the sn_rpa_fdn.robot_screen_resolution RPA Hub system property.
    • Type: String
    • Default Value: 1920x1080

Limitations

  • HDRs cannot be added to the robot pool.
  • High density and attended robots are not displayed in the Available Robots tab.

Activation and Setup:

To activate HDR functionality

  • Ensure the virtual machine supports multiple user sessions.
  • Select “Unattended” as the Robot Type on the Robot form.
  • Mark the robot as high density in the configuration settings.

  • Set screen resolution for all HDRs using the sn_rpa_fdn.robot_screen_resolution property.

By following these steps, organizations can streamline their automation processes and unlock the full potential of their resources.

Unlocking the Potential of HDR:

High Density Robots represent a transformative approach to automation by enabling organizations to:

  • Scale their RPA efforts seamlessly.
  • Optimize resource utilization for maximum efficiency.
  • Reduce infrastructure costs while maintaining reliability and performance.

As automation demands continue to grow, HDR provides a scalable and efficient solution for organizations looking to achieve more with less. Embrace HDR to take your automation capabilities to the next level and drive tangible results for your business.
