What’s new in Workplace Service Delivery and Health & Safety in Washington D.C.

 

The past 4 plus years have seen a large shift in how the workplace is used with organizations still finding themselves navigating the delicate balance between a suitable return to office strategy, and accommodating employee preferences for hybrid work, while ensuring health and safety measures are followed. To adapt to those changes, we’ve seen a growing recognition from workplace teams to leverage intelligent spaces and technological platforms to revolutionize office spaces, fostering improved collaboration, learning experiences, safety and overall gathering.

 

The ServiceNow Workplace Service Delivery and Health & Safety solutions have been designed and purpose-built for exactly those requirements. With the Washington release, we have expanded our capabilities to help our customers continue to transform their workplace with team event planning and enhanced reservation experiences, streamlined mapping synchronization, a new Safety Risk Management application. Those features and much more highlight our exciting new release.

 

Workplace Event Planner

This new feature enhances the workplace planner's visibility from Workplace Central by offering an optimized schedule view of all reservations made for each location. This empowers the Planner to gain valuable insights into space utilization and enables them to easily adjust any reservation. 

 

A real-time dashboard view of all reservations and events keeps planners completely up to date with key metrics including planned reservations for the day, cancelations, pending reservations and much more. Event planners can easily make edits to the time  of the reservation using a drag-and-drop interface along with other management options.

Workplace Reservation enhancements

We continue to learn from our customers on how the system can simplify the reservation process even more for their employees. With this release, we have expanded the reservation timeframes to include multiple days. This has become a common scenario for employees that will be returning to the office for 2-3 days without having to book a new reservation and find a new space each day.

 

We have also extended the on-site reservation process with a new QR code reservation option.  With this new capability, employees can instantly scan a QR code located on a desk, in a meeting room or on a locker to reserve the location using a quick reservation experience. The QR code can be scanned using the camera app or any QR code reader apps which will redirect the Employee to the Now Mobile app to finish the reservation process.

Indoor Mapping enhancements

Ensuring accurate mapping information between the employee reservation systems and the source AutoCAD systems is vital to space management teams. However, the process to maintain them can sap hours of productivity that could have been spent doing something more strategic. With this release, Map Admins now have the ability to edit CAD files directly in Map Studio by using the edit features to modify polylines, edit block attributes, move element between layers and remove text.

 

As an added benefit, once changes have been made in the CAD Editor view, the Map admin can export all the changes to AutoCAD so the two systems are synchronized and ultimately saving them time from re-work.

Workplace Entities

This new capability allows admins to define and utilize unique hierarchical business structures, which often vary from organization to organization. This in turn can help inform space allocations tied to these entities through map-based space administration, and also help drive the tracking of space consumption.

 

Space planners will be able to allocate all spaces, areas, and floors to these entities while also allowing them understand how spaces are being allocated. As an added benefit, the stack plan visualizes the workplace entity allocations by floor with the option to view allocations at different entity levels, providing a variety of different views and reports to leverage this new structure.  And finally, the entity can be mapped to workplace profiles, which will simplify the reservation experience for employees by automatically suggesting the allocated reservable space.

Health & Safety Risk Management

Organizations must work to maintain workplace safety, compliance, risk management, identification, mitigation and efficiency. It is essential for these organizations to uphold operational efficiency while also proactively managing risk within the workplace.  To help align with this requirement, our new Health and Safety Risk Assessment tool provides a proactive approach to managing workplace risks. Our solution empowers safety teams to proactively identify and mitigate risks, helping ensure a safer work environment.

 

We have updated the Health and Safety Workspace to include Health and Safety Management, Job Safety Analysis, and Health and Safety Risk Assessments within the same workspace. Hazards can be quickly identified and entered into the system for reporting and ongoing tracking. Configurable Risk Matrices help tailor assessments to meet regional compliance, site-specific, or industry-specific requirements, while pre and post control analysis evaluate risk levels before and after implementation to gauge effectiveness.
