Map Studio Data vs Space Administration Data (WSD Core)

What is the difference between Map Studio data versus Space Administration Data (WSD Core)?

I'm asking that because the data that we create in Map Studio is not available in the WSD Core. In the WSD training that I have attended, it says that we can run the "Indoor Map/WSD synchronization". Is this one time execution? How about if a new building is created in the Map Studio? We we run the sync jobs again?

Hi Fabop.

Map studio is the raw data for your building, primarily the CAD/DWG file for your floor/building spaces. WSD Core is your table reference, what the reservation tool looks for when booking a space.

The WSD Sync bridges those two pieces of information together. Any time you change the Map Studio information you'll need to run the sync again, add a new floor, run the sync. Create a new building run sync etc. This keeps the information together.

Yes @fabio_milani, when new buildings or spaces are created in Map Studio, you will need to re-sync the Indoor Map/WSD Synchronization. This ensures that the new spatial data is synchronized with WSD Core and the new buildings or floors are available in the Space Administration module for operational use.

  • Map Studio Data:
    • Focuses on visual representations like floor plans, building layouts, and indoor maps.
    • Used to define and manage interactive maps for navigation and space visualization.
  • WSD Core (Space Administration) Data:
    • Manages operational data such as space assignments, room capacity, and occupancy.
    • Used for tracking and administrating available spaces, buildings, and workplace resources.
