Space vs Room - what's the difference for set up?

What are the main differences between Spaces and Rooms other than the mandatory space type field on the space table? We're implementing a system that will contain the following and trying to figure out what makes the most sense in set up in terms of spaces vs rooms:
- individual workspaces
- huddle rooms
- meeting rooms
- parking spaces
Also, are there recommendations on how to best separate rooms/spaces into the proper table other than room versus space logic?

We are using rooms for large conference rooms, collaboration rooms and spaces for workstations in WSD module.
OOB WSD widgets will query respective spaces, rooms, buildings, areas which has latitude, longitude for rendering in map view.

What are your reservable modules? And if you are making them each room/space type like we are, what conditions are you using on the reservable modules to make sure only those rooms or spaces appear within that module?
