WSD/ Indoor Mapping

I have run into this issue with a few of my buildings that have multiple floors. The one I am trying to figure out currently is a 1st floor banking center and a 3rd floor LPO they have different addresses and mailstops which is what we go off for the identifier. I have them set up as separate campuses completely since they have different address and mailstop. But for some reason they are almost intertwining. Is this because they are basically on top of each other ? When I pull up the 3rd floor, I see the 1st floor map when though they are separate campus's I cannot figure out how to fix this.

I recently worked through a very similar WSD / Indoor Mapping issue where places from one floor were showing while another floor was selected.

At first it looked like a CAD or georeferencing problem, but the CAD files and floor associations were correct.

The issue ended up being on the Indoor Mapping Place records in sn_map_core_place.

For the affected floor-specific places, both of these fields were populated:

• Floor
• Campus

In Manage Directions, the request used by Map Studio can return places associated with the selected floor as well as places associated at the campus level. Because our floor-specific places also had Campus populated, they were being returned while other floors were selected.

A quick way to check for the same condition is to review sn_map_core_place using this filter:

active=true^floorISNOTEMPTY^campusISNOTEMPTY

I would not bulk-update anything immediately. We tested one affected Indoor Mapping Place first.

For that test, we cleared only the Campus field on the sn_map_core_place record and left the Floor association intact.

The result was:

• The place disappeared from the incorrect floor.
• The place continued to display correctly on its assigned floor.

Once that was confirmed, we corrected the remaining affected Indoor Mapping Place records.

Important: we did not clear Campus from the WSD Space record in sn_wsd_core_space. The WSD location hierarchy remained intact:

Campus
  - Building
      - Floor
          - Space

The corrected pattern for the Indoor Mapping Place was:

sn_map_core_place

Floor  = populated
Campus = blank
Active = true

So if you are seeing what looks like stacked floors or one floor showing through another, I would check the Indoor Mapping Place records before rebuilding or re-importing the CAD files.

Also, since you mentioned the floors are configured as separate campuses because of different addresses and mailstops, I would review that location model as well. If they are physically floors within the same building, it may be worth confirming whether separate campuses are actually needed.

Hopefully this helps. This ended up being a data relationship issue for us rather than a CAD issue.
