Create a quote from an opportunity

  • Create a quote from an open opportunity to start the quoting process in the CPQ Sales CRM workspace.

    Before you begin

    An open opportunity must exist in Sales CRM before you can create a quote.

    Role required: sn_sales_crm.quote_creator or equivalent.

    About this task

    Quotes can only be created from an opportunity. When you create a quote, it opens in the embedded Transaction Manager interface.

    Procedure

    1. In the CSM Configurable Workspace, select the List view.
    2. Navigate to Opportunity > All
    3. Open the opportunity for which you want to create a quote.
      The Opportunity records appears with the details tab. The contextual side panel appears and displays the list of activities performed on the opportunity.
    4. Select Create Quote.
      The message appears as the quote is created.

    5. The quote opens in the embedded Transaction Manager interface. The quote header fields are populated with values from the opportunity if opportunity-to-quote field mapping is configured. The quote is in the draft stage.
    6. Review the pre-populated header fields and update any values that need to be changed.
      Fields that were auto-populated from the opportunity are pre-filled based on the opportunity-to-quote mapping configured by your administrator. You can edit any field that is not locked.
    7. Fill in any required fields that aren't pre-populated.
      Required fields are indicated in the header. The quote cannot be submitted for approval until all required fields are complete.
