This blog highlights new store innovations and enhancements for App Engine in November of 2022. Store releases enable ServiceNow to deliver and update apps rapidly between family releases.

In the November 2022 Store release, ServiceNow App Engine continues to increase the impact your low-code apps bring to the table in a highly agile fashion. Check out our top innovations below:

Application Usage | [Store Link]

App Engine allows you to harness the power of a continual development loop with integrated governance, giving you the ability to not only build apps fast, but effectively improve them over time as they scale within your business. Once your low-code app is in use in production, admins now have an easy way to understand the ways users are interacting with the app via User Experience Analytics, a newly integrated aspect of App Engine Management Center (AEMC).

Within the application info page of App Engine Management Center, you’ll see key usage stats associated with the app, including total active users as well as details for both new and updated records.

Beyond these topline analytics, admins can dive deep. For example, clicking into the detailed user flow diagram allows you to quickly assess the interaction patterns of your users and whether they are completing your desired path. Then, you can prioritize improvements accordingly with your assigned collaborators.

This sophisticated tool provides a massive depth of information about not just the extent to which your app has been accessed, but precise detail on how your app is being used.

User Experience Analytics supercharges AEMC, allowing admins to gain insights that empower you to reduce risk, prioritize upgrades, and identify candidates for depreciation.

Workspace Builder | [Store Link]

Workspace Builder for App Engine is a no-code application that allows you to manage dashboards, build lists, and customize record pages—all in one builder with no code. With Workspace Builder, developers of all skill levels can access the most-used features of UI Builder to make simple edits to their workspaces created in App Engine Studio.

Let’s consider a quick example—you want to add a new data visualization. Simply add the new element, select the appropriate data source, then set your desired filters. With this data visualization component created, you simply need to drag and drop it within your workspace and save your changes. Pre-built elements like this take the guesswork out of building, allowing developers to drive value faster by focusing on configuration instead of set-up.

Using Workspace Builder, you can also configure lists and set up the perfect pre-filtered views for your users. Another great feature is the ability to design a bespoke record page for a specific table. You have the flexibility to customize the form, activity stream, attachments, agent assist, response templates, and ribbon components to give agents the information they need all in one place. You can even easily incorporate automation by adding a playbook to the record details section.

The best part? Workspace Builder is a single, holistic building experience. This means developers can manage and edit their workspace without task-switching. The curated configurations and components available also ensure every element is specifically tailored for workspaces, meaning developers don’t have to worry about running into decision fatigue.
