Developer instance maintenance

Hi Community,

I noticed my Personal Developer Instance (PDI) is currently showing as Offline with the message: "Developer Instance is undergoing unscheduled maintenance."

I wanted to check with the community:

1. Is this affecting all PDI users or just specific accounts?
2. Is there an estimated time for when the instances will be back online?
3. Is there an official status page or thread tracking this maintenance?

I have some pending development work and would appreciate any updates on the expected resolution time.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello @SrinivasanM5308,

I am not currently seeing this issue with my own PDI, so it does not appear to be affecting all PDI users. However, I have noticed several recent community posts reporting PDI-related issues, which suggests that some instances may be experiencing platform-side problems.

Unfortunately, there is no official support channel for PDIs, so the community is generally unable to provide instance-specific recovery details or estimated resolution times. As a result, there is typically no guaranteed ETA for when an instance undergoing unscheduled maintenance will be available again.

A couple of additional points to keep in mind:

  • The maximum period a PDI can remain inactive is 10 days , after which it may be reclaimed.
  • You can release your current instance and request a new one , but this will remove all existing data.
  • To avoid losing important work, regularly back up your update sets and other critical development artifacts.

For now, you can either wait for the instance to come back online or release it and request a new one. I have faced a similar issue in the past, and my instance became available again after approximately three days.

Hope your instance is back online soon.

Hi @SrinivasanM5308

1. No not all but can happen to all of us.

2. No

3. No

in general, PDIs is not supported so you can wait till it come online again, or release the instance and request a fresh installation .

Hi @SrinivasanM5308

If your  your Servicenow Developer PDI  has been stuck in a "launching," "waking up" ,"500 error"  or not getting online state for more than 24 hours, then  I will  advice you  to release the instance and request a new one .

Regarding your query-

1. Is this affecting all PDI users or just specific accounts? A: Its not for all .
2. Is there an estimated time for when the instances will be back online? Generally 24-48 hours it takes.
3. Is there an official status page or thread tracking this maintenance? NO , Also no support Available for PDI

As you know there is no support available for PDI.

Hello @SrinivasanM5308 ,

Since ServiceNow PDIs do not have dedicated support, you can either wait for some time and see if the instance comes back online, or request a new instance. However, if you request a new instance, all data from the previous instance will be lost.

Also, keep this in mind: always take regular backups of your work using Update Sets. This helps you recover your customizations and development work in situations like these.

If this helps you then mark it as helpful and accept as solution.

Regards,
Aditya
