We are pleased to announce the following features in the Washington DC family release and store releases through April of 2024.
Redesigned Data Certification on the CMDB Workspace
The CMDB Workspace now hosts a redesigned Data Certification feature, which will markedly improve the process of validating your enterprise data so it is audit-ready, regulation-aligned, and easier to scale. We all know that systematic data certification can establish the accuracy of your data, verifying trust for regulatory compliance and audits. Basing the feature on data policies streamlines that certification and aligns that activity to other data policies to improve and refresh your CMDB data before, during, and after audits.
Key Features
-
Data Manager Certification Policy Creation: specify verification requirements for data within the CMDB Workspace, streamlining the creation and assignment of certification tasks.
- Redesigned User Experience: navigate the certification tables and fields effortlessly in the Next Experience UI.
-
Legacy Schedule Conversion: smoothly transition from old certification schedules to new data policies using conversion wizards.
-
Task Management: centralize certification tasks in "My Work" making it easier to track progress and complete necessary validations.
-
Analytics: access insights from the certification process through a clear view of task outcomes, highlighting areas for improvement.
Data Policies significantly improve the certification process, allowing for automated governance and higher data quality standards.

As the cybersecurity environment continues to develop, effectively managing threats becomes crucial. Service Graph Connectors from ServiceNow are an indispensable element of security strategies across industries, offering a fast lane for integrating trusted data on a platform of action. Alignment with our Common Services Data Model and regular maintenance delivers nearly instant value on security investments between ServiceNow and other trusted tools.
But what's exciting is just the breadth of the toolkit. Imagine seamlessly leveraging existing investments in Microsoft Defender for IoT, in Qualys, and in Rapid7 to put CMDB and vulnerability data right into your operational nerve center. This is not just about visibility; it's about actionable insight. These new connectors are not standalone additions; they enhance and complement the formidable lineup of existing connections, including stalwarts like Claroty, Tenable, and Crowdstrike. It's like putting together a supergroup of security tools, each connector playing its part in harmony to protect your digital assets. With Service Graph Connectors, your security orchestra is always in tune, ready to perform at a moment's notice, because in the symphony of cybersecurity, there's no room for a false note.

Other Innovations ( . . . and a Deprecation)
Here's a summary of some other updates:
Common Product Instance Identifier
- Introduces a common identifier to synchronize assets, CI, and products. This feature enables better traceability across the digital supply chain, connecting assets purchased by a company to the configurations installed and the products sold to customers. It is particularly useful in healthcare applications and in Customer Service Management, but expect to see it in additional use cases soon.
CMDB Dashboard Refresh and Multi-source API Capacity Increase
- Performance improvements in the CMDB dashboard refresh and increased capacity for multi-source APIs cater to SecOps and similar ServiceNow applications, enhancing the platform's scalability and performance.
Deduplication Template and Dashboards
- A limited number of legacy enterprise configurations produce high volumes of duplicates that aren't easily resolved by data policies alone. New tools make the effort to remediate those duplicates much less labor-intensive by automating the full range of deduplication tasks from identification to resolution.
- Requires CMDB Workspace version 6 or later
Sunset of CMDB Baseline
- ServiceNow plans to discontinue the CMDB baseline feature due to scalability issues. The company advises customers to adopt modern change management practices instead.
Come back for more updates soon.
