Certifying and managing application to server relationships

Hey All,

How do you ensure that your Application to Server mappings stay up to date in the CMDB at your company? I would like to pursue ways for people to certify their data on a periodic basis but am having trouble finding a way to have people do so that in a simple and easy way.

We looked into the Data certification module but it didn't fit all our needs. It allowed them to certify current relationships between Applications  and servers but wont allow to create or delete relationships as needed.

At my previous company, we did a approval on the application table. Twice a year, a flow would send out an approval to each application owner, and they would need to review the relationships and approve/certify that everything is up to date.

How are you currently managing the relationships b/w applications and servers? What would they use the create or delete the relationships? We just used the relationship editor on the record itself.

Thanks for the information, our application owners don't currently maintain the CMDB Relationships with the Applications. I don't think having them go through the relationship editor would be beneficial as its not always the most straight forward. 

I think I might have to go with a custom solution for this although.

You may have already heard about Data Content Manager, but if not, here are a few capabilities you might be interested in.

1. Creating blueprints to define "required data models."

2. Running audits against the blueprints to identify missing relationships and other details

* Audit results based on "blueprint elements."

* Audit messages per record

3. "Content Planner" used to maintain data according to agreed models

4. Personal data quality metrics

DCM can't regularly review existing relationships (yet). Still, it helps to audit data on a regular basis and address the issues to responsible persons and enable them to maintain data according to agreed data models and role-specific requirements.

Hello! Can you please provide me some information on how you were able to use Data Certification? We are looking for them to just certify the current relationships to bring attention to what we have documented in ServiceNow. I am unable to determine how to set up the filter and schedule to certify the relationships.
