need a common template for CMDB CI creation. What fields need to be created and made mandatory and suggested to the client for Ci data gathering?

The first step is to finalize the list of CI classes which you need to populate. Depending on the class, there may be variations in attributes which are important. Some key attributes applicable for many common CI classes are Name, Serial Number, Support group, Approval group, Manufacturer, Model ID, Location etc. But based on the CI classes which are in scope, there will be different types of attributes which would be useful for each class. The list of important attributes for CSDM tables like business services, application services, business capabilities, business applications etc. are significantly different from other CMDB tables.

So if you can provide a list of CI classes, I can suggest some important attributes to be included in the template for each class. You need to create the excel template with a separate tab for each CI class. Once the initial template is in place, you should connect with each CI class owner to check if any additional attributes which are important for their organisation should be included in the template.

Also it is recommended to ensure that the foundation data tables like Companies, Locations, Users, Groups, Product models etc. are populated with clean and accurate data before CMDB data population as these are referenced by various CMDB attributes.
