How to capture 3rd party hosted Applications

Hi

We need to capture how and where our applications are hosted in the CMDB and I'm looking for some advise on how to capture applications that are hosted externally.

We capture the relationships between Application Service and the supporting downstream infrastructure configuration items and cloud resource groups and this works great for internally hosted applications as we can then track back to our data centers.

So this brings me to the question of how best to capture in the CMDB that an Application Service is hosted externally outside of our network?

thanks

This is not a question about screen recording software.  It is a question about the ServiceNow CMDB.  This seems like a response that would be generated by ChatGPT and if so it should be removed.  In either case, it is not relevant to the intent of the post or even to the ServiceNow community as a whole.

One option is to maintain the instances of the third party hosted application in the parent Application Service table (cmdb_ci_service_auto). This table does not require entry points. There is also an OOTB attribute on the Business Application CI called 'Install Type' which has an OOTB option called 'Third Party Hosted'. This attribute can be set to provide context about why the Application Service does not have any underlying infrastructure mapped.

Capturing third-party hosted applications can be a complex task that requires specialized tools and techniques. Here are a few general approaches you can consider

  1. Screen recording: Use screen recording software to capture the application in action. Start the screen recording before launching the hosted application and ensure that you capture the entire application window or relevant portions of the screen. This method captures the visual and interactive elements of the application but may not capture underlying code or functionality.

  2. Browser extension or plugin: Some browsers have extensions or plugins specifically designed for capturing web applications. These tools can capture the browser window, including the hosted application, as well as provide additional features for annotation and editing. Search for browser extensions or plugins that support screen capturing or application recording.

Stop.
