Hi
We are working on CMDB and foundation data, esp. locations.
Requirement: "As a CISO / Audit / Legal person I need to know where an IT asset is located in order to asses which local regulations are relevant."
What is the best practice / pragmatic way to attach geographic location information to cloud-ressources?
Thanks, S.

Typically the data center name for the co-location facility or the cloud host is used for the Location field on the configuration item. The SG (service graph) connectors for AWS, Azure, and GCP all provide the data center name for the discovered cloud CIs. The hosting company will provide at least city/state|province/country for where their data centers are located to update the cloud data center records in the company location table so that the audit requirement can be met.
