We need to upload the data in CMDB manually and hence we need to be careful while uploading this to avoid any future issues.
We need to decide the tables in which we will need to populate the data in ServiceNow CMDB, and hence need inputs from ServiceNow on this.
As per our understanding, below are the tables where we should be uploading data to, however can we get the confirmation as when we start the discovery, this doesn’t create any duplications/relationship issues etc.
VMs and physical servers of both Windows and Linux OS goes under below table
- Windows servers = cmdb_ci_win_server
- Linux servers = cmdb_ci_linux_server
Physical ESXi goes under :
- ESXi = cmdb_ci_esx_server
Network devices Goes under:
- Switch = cmdb_ci_ip_switch
- Router = cmdb_ci_ip_router
- Firewall = cmdb_ci_ip_firewall
- SAN Switches = cmdb_ci_storage_switch
Please support us getting ServiceNow review/feedback on this.

Hi Nidhi,
Those class mappings look correct for the identified device types.
In order to reduce the chance of creating duplicate CIs, please make sure you are using the IRE to perform identification and reconciliation when importing into the CMDB. This will identify existing CIs that match on identifier values according to the configured IRE Identification Rules.
Regards,
Mike

Currently there is no data in cmdb at all...it is just fresh data we are pushing, and in future discovery will discover these CIs using native discovery.
Another query - what to consider as unique value for Virtual machine?
Like network devices-we can use serial number.

Echoing what Mike said - mapping looks correct, and use IRE when importing data.
