Turning off Nutanix VM discovery, don't want server CIs to be retired

Hi, we are looking at turning off discovery of Nutanix virtual machine instances, but wanted to make sure if the virtual machine instance records are retired the server CI records remain operational. I noticed if I retire a vm instance it automatically retires the server record. What would be the best process to ensure this doesn't happen?

Hey @Gar 

Try this :

1. First check the CI relationship between the Nutanix VM Instance and the Server CI.
2. The Server CI is likely being retired due to the dependent CI or cascade retirement behavior.
3. If the requirement is only to stop Nutanix VM discovery, avoid retiring the VM records directly.
4. Disable the Nutanix discovery and test the behavior in a lower environment first.
5. If the VM records need to be retired, review the Dependent CI and cascade retirement configuration.
6. Also verify whether the Server CIs are being managed by another discovery source before making any changes.
