Availability of CSDM 5 Ideation & Strategy supporting tables

Good Day,

With CSDM comes the new domain called Ideation & Strategy. Are the two associated tables sn_align_core_planning_item and sn_align_core_product_idea available to general CMDB users?
I understand they normally come with Strategic Portfolio Management, but what if we don't have that product? Can we still get the tables?

Many thanks,

/jc

Hello Jaques,

The CSDM is a model, meaning that not everything should be thought of as represented by tables with the exact same names. Sometimes the boxes in the data model encapsulate content from multiple tables. Whereas sometimes it's a 1:1 between boxes in the data model and supporting tables. The Planning Item table (sn_align_core_planning_item) is a table that encapsulates multiple tables used for planning work. If you don't have it, you can still manage your planned work in tables that are available to you, but it will get much easier if you have the SPM and EA products.

In order to get all tables needed to have an oversight of your CSDM 5 landscape, you need to ensure you have all the available, free of charge plugins shown in the list below. The first I mention is installed together with the core platform and doesn't need to be plugged in separately, as you know. Note that these plugins don't give you access to workflows, workspaces and additional tables and columns that come with our paid products, but they will still be a good starting point. An example is the DevOps Change Data model: you will need to buy ITSM Pro to unlock the workflows and dashboards, plus additional tables need to get full control of your DevOps practises in a life cycle and change control perspective.

The last one doesn't provide any new tables, but runs queries to find out how well your are doing on your CSDM 5 implementation.

I hope this answers your questions. Good luck on your CSDM 5 journey!

Not to my knowledge. You need SPM for these. I haven't seen them coming in with other products yet (but I could be wrong there). It's in the ideation & strategy domain, so that's part of SPM.

Hi Mark, thanks for responding.

I hear that, but at the same time, the Business Application class used to be part of APM (now EA) only, and therefore not available. Ultimately ServiceNow decided to "free" them for the sake of promoting CSDM. I guess that bad habits die hard as once again. Those 2 tables only won't compete with the rich feature set of SPM but would help with CSDM 5 adoption in general.

Cheers.
