I have noticed that under the "Design" tab in CSDM you have the objects mentioned in CSDM 3.0 - Business Capability, Business Application and Information Object. But then you also have Business Process.
Business Process is defined as an Element in Business Continuity Management for example but it is not mentioned anywhere in CSDM.
We have both business processes and capabilities defined in a system outside of ServiceNow and are working on how to map them correctly. Have ServiceNow provided any guidance at all on how business processes should be mapped in CSDM?

Hi,
In CSDM 3.0 Business process is a reference field that you can store on the Business Application.
As stated previously In CSDM 4.0 it becomes part of the Foundation Data and it it said that it can be related to other objects like Services and Applications too.
Kind regards,
Dylan

Lets keep this as simple and generic as possible. I am working at IT in public health sector.
For me a Business process is for example "Surgery planning" at a hospital. To support the hospital doing this we are providing a Business Service with a Service Offering.
At the moment there is a confusing overlap between Service Now Business Application (APM, ITBM) and Business Service (SPM, ITSM). We have worked for a long time focusing on value creation through service delivery and moving away from delivery of technology (for example applicaitons). We have SPM in place with Business Services, Service Offerings with Service Committments. Now we are looking at APM and we need to adress the overlap.
Is there somebody out there with experience of this and have some advice?

Hi Peter
As said above Business process will be extended in CSDM4.0, not really sure yet, what impact.
Business Application is you logical representation of your application inventory, Application Service is the deployed version of the business application.
The Service/Service Offering, whether it is a business or technical is what is around the business application / application service, ex.
- Technical Service -> Application Management from Supplier for Business Application = Office365 Email
- delivered as a service offering in bronze, silver or a gold package(commitments)
- Business Service -> Business Users, using the Business Application ex. Email Outlook Client
- Offering is again bronze silver gold (commitments)
You need to migrate from the old model where "Business Service" was the "Business Application", to business application/application service.
