Categorization of Ticket based on created and planned date

Hi,

I have a requirement to categorise tickets to planned tickets and unplanned tickets. The best way i found is to compare week number of created date and planned start date. If created date week number and planned start date week number is same, then I call as a unplanned ticket if not planned ticket.(Planned start date week number should be at least created date week number +1). Looking for support on the same. Kindly help! Thanks

Another way to do it would be to use incidents for all unplanned tickets and requests for plan(nable) tickets. Incidently, this would probably also be a more standard approach.
