CMDB Data Manager - Certification Policies

Hi All,

Within our company we are implementing CSDM and for that the relationships between business processes and business applications in ServiceNow. These must also be checked periodically (at least annually) to ensure that these relationships are still correct. Creating these relations are a manual activity because these relationships cannot be established and checked automatically.

We would like to know what the best way is to conduct these periodic checks for the validation of these relationships in regard to compliance. We encounter some questions with the use of the Certification Policies with CMDB data manager.

What we want to achieve is that the owners of the Business processes are given a certification task to verify the relationships between their business processes and business applications are correct.
We have made a policy to realize this from the 'CMDB Workspace - Management - Data Manager' through a certification policy. If the relationship is indicated as correct it is registered as a "pass". If the relationship is no longer correct, it will be registered as "failed". The question is what should/can be done with these "fialed" relationship CMDB tasks?

What is the intended follow-up:

  1. Should the owner of the failed relation resolve this outside the cretification process and should recertification take place?
  2. Is this cmdb task intended to record what has been done with the failed relationship?
  3. Is it purely a record of the pass or fail of the relationship certification and does this not provide for follow-up after the periodic verification?

I'm curious about your thoughts and ideas on this topic.

Kind Regards,
Twan
