We’ve just started trying to use Azure discovery. We have our credentials entered, and it is able to discover our subscription. The cloud service account is also set up and able to discover our datacenters. However when we run the discovery schedule we’ve get an error message in the Horizontal Discovery Log.
We also got a similar message when creating the discovery schedule, but it didn’t prevent us from moving ahead and starting discovery.
The discovery log contains this message:
Failed Exploring CI Pattern, Pattern name: Azure Service account, To Check Pattern Log Press Here
The pattern log shows:
2021-02-09 11:58:56: Identification Engine: Discovery status is FAILURE, Required attribute datacenter_type is missing for CI Type cmdb_ci_cloud_service_account
Has anyone gotten anything similar? Any suggested workarounds?

jkessler,
This is a known issue. The error can be fixed by making the 3 updates outlined below:
1) Upgrade the Discovery and Service Mapping Patterns to the latest version (currently at 1.0.74).
2) Upgrade the CMDB CI Class Models to the latest version (currently at 1.23.0).
3) On the Cloud Service Account update the Datacenter URL to (https://portal.azure.us).

Hi,
Not sure why you would get that error, but can you try setting the Datacentre manually using the steps below
- Navigate to https://[your instance].service-now.com/cmdb_ci_cloud_service_account_list.do
- Click on your Cloud Service account record
- Using the Datacenter Type dropdown, select 'Azure Datacenter [cmdb_ci_azure_datacenter]'
- Save the record
- Click on the 'Discover Datacenter' link below to see if it discovers the logical datacenters
- Re-run the failed Discovery schedule or create a new one from the link (UI Action) on the Cloud Service Account record
Thanks,
Ayman
