Can't wait for the whitepaper 😉

The whitepaper is technically not tied to release version.

What most organizations need to know is released in the videos on YouTube.

CSDM 4.0 What’s New a General Overview

CSDM v4 Impacts to APM

CSDM Discussion about Assignment, Change and Support and Managed by Groups

The focus right now should be a healthy CMDB in your ServiceNow instance.  ServiceNow or many partners can request and run a CMDB health scan and offer to remediate and prepare for CSDM.

Organizations need to get to CSDM 3.0.  This requires modeling of the data, and the different personas managing the data and records.

Summary:

  •  CSDM 4.0 is a continued maturation of the data model within ServiceNow. Previous CSDM guidance does not change.

  • Added the Build Domain –  Introducing the new SLDC component.  This is used to capture what is being built before it goes to production. This maybe related to the construction of homegrown applications, or additional microservices, config files, API etc

    • Not all Business Applications to Application Services will need to have a connection to this new and optional component.  Some organizations may not have the maturity. The CSDM 3.0 outlines the relationship between the Business Application and the Application Service. You do not have to use the SDLC component unless it requires it.

Foundational Data will add the focus on adding Product Models. Product models how they are created and their importance is covered in the CMDB Workshop Deck in Now Create.
