Impact of activating CSDM plugin

Hi All, 

 

What is the impact of activating this plugin: com.snc.cmdb.csdm.activation?  What will happen to the Legacy lifecycle value and stages once the plugin got activated? We are looking for the pros and cons of CSDM activation. Please share your thoughts

Hi,

There are 2 things here:

  • CSDM Activation (com.snc.cmdb.csdm.activation) - this seems to be literally a 'flag' with no actual updates
  • Clicking 'Activate' on the Life Cycle Mapping table (life_cycle_mapping) - this is the function that performs an update across the platform to set the lifecycle stage and lifecycle stage status based on the mappings and turns on the BRs to keep the statuses in sync.

However, I would suggest holding off using these at present. The only real use in Tokyo was so that you could utilise the Data Manager, however in Utah they have removed this reliance and you can use the Data Manager through other configuration settings.

 

Further there are a number of other issues i.e. the BRs required to sync the legacy status to the stage do not allow an update back to Asset records without modifying the BR Orders.
