"life cycle stage" and "life cycle status" fields

Community Alums

Hi team,

If we update the "life cycle stage" and "life cycle status" fields on the configuration item (CI) side, these changes will automatically propagate to the corresponding fields (life cycle stage & life cycle status) on the asset side.

do we have any oob code that should sync both asset side and ci side life cycle stage & life cycle status should be same?

Thanks

Tejaswini

when we change the life cycle stage and life stage status on asset will operational status, state substates will update based on mapping in life_cycle_mapping ?

Hi Tejaswini,

We have recently enabled Life Cycle Mapping in our environment for all type of classes. here is our observation.

1) Mapping works bi-directional, meaning, if you change Operational Status it will change its life cycle stage and stage status, and also if you change life cycle stage and stage status, it changes Operational Status on same table.

2) About your question, Yes, it updates operational status on CMDB CI, State and Substates on Asset side.

3) There is one more article you should look if you are looking for enabling Life Cycle Mapping on Asset Table, Here is known problem for which there KB shared by ServiceNow. some assets gets put into "Consumed" Status from "In Use" Status. https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB1433675

4) In our environment therefore we have kept our mapping as uni-directional.
